Maximuscle powers Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers through the 2012 Formula 1™ season

Leading sports nutrition brand continues its presence with on-car logos in Hungary

Issued: London UK

Following the success of the 2012 FORMULA 1 GERMAN GRAND PRIX, Maximuscle – the UK’s leading sports nutrition brand – has announced its partnership with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team will continue throughout the remainder of the 2012 season.

Maximuscle currently supplies both drivers with their range of protein-based performance products to support their away-from-track training. This ensures they are in peak physical condition for every race and that the drivers are supported in their recovery for what is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the world.

Maximuscle produce a range of products suitable for many different fitness and body shape goals. While there are products that can help build size and strength, there are also products that can help drive lean definition. The lean definition range is most relevant to the drivers as it can help them reduce body fat, while still building core strength to help them fight fatigue on race days.

James O’Shea, Maxinutrition, Marketing Director said “While the car and race weekend activity takes much of the focus, it’s the attention to detail and preparation behind the scenes that can make or break a race. Never has this been more important than in the highly competitive world of F1 where training and recovery between races is just as important as what happens on the track. That’s why we’re proud to support two of the leading drivers taking part in the F1 championship.”

Martin Whitmarsh, Team Principal Vodafone McLaren Mercedes said “We’re delighted to have Maximuscle as a partner and be running with their brand on the car again this weekend. Managing the physical demands placed on our drivers is a key part of our success and GSK’s strategic partnership with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes means we are able to use Europe’s leading sports nutrition provider to help us do that.”

Lewis Hamilton said; “Our season never stops: for 20 race weekends a year, I need to perform to the absolute limit – in Formula 1, there’s just no time for a weekend off or a bad race. Grand Prix racing is relentless, and it requires a fitness schedule that ensures I’m always at my peak. Away from the track, I’m always training and I use Maximuscle for fitness and recovery – it’s perfectly suited for my needs.”

Lucozade remains the official sports and energy drink partner as a part of the GSK partnership with the McLaren Group. Lucozade will continue to be consumed by the drivers for fuel and hydration and its branding will return to the car in the near future.
