What makes you, you?
I’m fascinated by science and I’m passionate about changing and bettering the lives of patients. I’d also describe myself as entrepreneurial; I like combining science and business to see opportunities for the benefit of all.
What's the best thing about working here?
Having the opportunity to focus on the best science to better the lives of patients across the world. As someone who is passionate about medicine, GSK is a place where I can achieve my ambitions, and abide by my values.
What are your highlights?
I became a full professor and head of a medical department in the Netherlands at the age of just 39. At that stage of my career I had never imagined I would achieve that. I was also honoured to be elected ‘Toparts’ (best rheumatologist in the Netherlands).
How have we supported your transition to GSK?
GSK made the transition as easy as possible with the way they integrated me into the team. I also have a level of cooperation, resources and technology available to me here which I didn’t have in academia. Last but not least, my colleagues are very supportive. People are always willing to invest time to help each other improve on a professional level.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
The talent and capabilities here are mind-blowing. You will have access to the most amazing technology. There is also a huge amount of collaboration and GSK really does invest in its people to ensure they become the best they can be. We all have a common goal: to better the lives of patients in a sustainable way.
